One of the fastest ways to make money online is through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising. PPC is an internet advertising model where advertisers pay their host when their ad is clicked. The sponsored links at the bottom of this page are an example of this.
Thanks to the advent of advertising products such as Google AdSense and Yahoo Content Match, it is easy to monetise online traffic (visitor) streams. All you need is some content that attracts traffic. This is usually done through a website that provides unique and insighful information to the user.
The reason why PPC advertising is number 2 on our list is because once you have good content that attracts traffic, PPC advertising is easy to set up and it takes very little ongoing management. Furthermore, PPC hosts such as Google quickly log the clicks on your ads allowing you to easily see on a day-to-day basis how much you have made.
As mentioned above, PPC advertising is most commonly used on websites.
If you don’t have your own website already, you should consider building
one in order to generate money via PPC. A website is easier to create than
a lot of people think and the costs are relatively low.
Visit our bulding a website section where we detail the different ways you
can go about creating a site. Our recommended route for those that want to
create a site to make money from opportunities such as PPC advertising
and affiliate marketing is to use our Stinge SiteBuilder platform.
The Google Adsense success stories page gives readers a good overview
as to the kind of websites that have had the most - yep you guessed it -
success. The Google video to the right is also provides useful information on
how to effectively make the most out of PPC advertising on their Google
Adsense platform.
PPC hosts such as Google also offer an array of features that you should
spend some time learning about and implementing. For example, blocking
selected competitors ads and matching your ads to your sites content,
look and feel.
PPC advertising is not restricted to websites. People also make good
money by integrating adverts into YouTube videos. A similar principle
applies when creating a video as for when you create a website. It has
to attract traffic! YouTube have a section of their website dedicated to
helping people advertise with them. Click here to access this.
Payout rates per click range from a few pence to a few pounds
depending on the keyword category and how high companies have
bid for those keywords. One of the main factors that affects your
click-through rate is how many visitors you get to your site. In order
to build a reliable income using PPC advertising you need to make
sure your content pulls in a good number of visitors again and again.
This all comes down to creating unique content that helps users.
Our building a website section discusses this in more detail.
Potential earnings using PPC advertising are unlimited. Some people
only manage to make a few pounds a month whereas others make
thousands or more. See our ‘How much money can I make from a
website’ section for more info.
The essential things to remember in order to maximise money through PPC are to always keep the adverts prominent but not intrusive. You don’t want adverts which compromise the user’s interaction with your website. Another big no-no are annoying pop-up ad’s. This reduces your credibility and is also likely to make your visitor hit the back button.
The terms and conditions of most big PPC hosts state that you are not
allowed to partake in annoying ad tactics such as these. These are written in the best interests of the web user and advertiser (that pays you!). We strongly advise that you read and follow these rules. The last thing you want is to accidently breach a rule and be permanently kicked off a platform that you’ve been making money from.
